- How Does EFT Work?
- Most people enter couple therapy saying we just can't communicate.
- In EFT we start by tracking your communication to identify positions and patterns that are keeping you stuck. Usually you will find yourself in some version of a pursue/withdraw or criticize/defend pattern. It is usually a negative, self-reinforcing or perpetual cycle that results in the security and trust between you breaking down.
- EFT is a model of couple therapy that was created by Sue Johnson and Les Greenberg in the 80s. Over the past 20 years EFT has been thoroughly researched showing that
many couples (over 70%) turned their relationship around (from distressed no matter how distressed to happy) in 15-20 sessions and over 90% of couples significantly
improved.
